Quick Start Guide

Download and Install

Download InTheFlow.dmg, open it, and drag the app to your Applications folder.

Grant Permissions

When prompted, allow microphone access and accessibility permissions. These are required for dictation to work system-wide.

Sign In

Create an account or sign in. If you purchased Premium on the website, use the same email to automatically activate your subscription.

Start Dictating

Hold the Option key (or your custom hotkey), speak naturally, and release. Your text appears wherever your cursor is.

Common Issues

Dictation isn't working

  • Check that microphone permission is enabled in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
  • Verify accessibility permission is granted in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility
  • Make sure you're signed in to the app
  • Try restarting the app from the menu bar

Text isn't appearing in my app

  • Ensure your cursor is in a text field before dictating
  • Some apps with custom text rendering may not be compatible
  • Try clicking in the text field first to ensure it has focus

Premium subscription not showing

  • Make sure you're signed in with the same email you used to purchase
  • Try signing out and back in to refresh your subscription status
  • Allow a few minutes after purchase for the subscription to activate

Transcription quality issues

  • Speak clearly and at a moderate pace
  • Reduce background noise when possible
  • Use a better microphone if available (built-in mics work fine for most cases)
  • The AI cleanup works best with natural speech—don't over-enunciate

Manage Your Subscription

Premium subscribers can manage their subscription, update payment methods, or cancel through the Stripe Customer Portal.

To access the Customer Portal: Open InTheFlow > Settings > Manage Subscription

Cancel anytime: Your subscription remains active until the end of your billing period.
